These are random photos of the city that don’t necessarily fit into any other post but which I thought showed off the city really well.
The Gates of Paradise
Santa Maria Novella
We went here on a field trip to see Masaccio’s Trinity.
The sails on Santa Maria Novella are the symbol of Giovanni Rucellai, who paid for the facade.
A community garden/park that I frequent on sunny days.
I thought my Bellingham bicyclist friends might enjoy this:
Painting by the Arno.
Pastries, gelati, and candy is everywhere. If it weren’t for all the walking I do I’d probably be unable to fit into my clothes.
Sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo.
The Ponte Vecchio at night when all the shops are closed. During the day it is jam packed with tourists and the shops all sell gold.
Supposedly Michelangelo’s graffiti.
Chiesa di San Remigio
A random drumming concert I happened upon. It was so loud you could hear it from blocks away and so many people stopped in the middle of the street to take pictures they caused a traffic jam.
